What a beautiful word - awe. When I think about it, awe is something that captures my breath for just a moment. That feeling that everything is right just as it is.
But what creates a sense of awe? Sometimes we may think that it must be grand- larger than life, some magical place or event.
Yes, those grand experiences can create a sense of awe but can awe be found in everyday life?
Can the simplest things in life bring a sense of awe?
When we live in our thinking mind, we travel down a road, that carries us away from what is here and the opportunity to find awe in this moment.
I was recently on a canoe and kayak weekend and was filled with awe throughout the weekend. For me, there is nothing more magical than what nature offers us each moment. Crisp blue skies, wispy clouds, the sounds of birds, rustling wind through the trees, a cool breeze caressing my face.
The sound of the paddle as it breaks the water’s surface and the flow of my body with the paddle as it contacts the water. I felt welcomed by all of nature and joined in the rhythm of the moment for nature does not judge.
Each time I experience a sense of awe, I feel it in my body. There is a shift, an almost melting or letting go of anything to which I am clinging. My body settles in, and I am at peace.
This is what brings a sense of awe to me and that may be different for you.
What does awe look like for you?
Being curious about how that arrives for you can be fun. Asking yourself what awe feels like and what types of experiences bring that about.
As we expand our lens of experience, there is the opportunity to find moments of awe just where we are.
