This day can mean lots of different things to many different people.
For me it is a day devoted to giving thanks and appreciating all the sacrifices those before us made for this moment to be.
Thankfulness is also a way of life, not just one day but a way of being. A sense of gratitude for just being. For all the simple things that make us feel alive and human.
It is so easy to have our schedules, our to do lists dictate our daily life. Things need to be done, people to answer to. It takes intention to be present, to observe and notice the things that need to be done but not as something to get through.
When with friends, family, neighbors, and acquaintances, can we look into their eyes and really see them? Can we listen with our whole body and let them know we are listening. For our greatest desire is to be seen and heard.
In this time of thanksgiving can we give time and intention to those around us. Can we appreciate each other for the uniqueness that we all bring. For we do not know what the future brings but we do know in this moment we have each other.
With gratitude.
